At the Dundee Spring Fling 2012 (currently happening), one of the dances is the 3C/4L Reel 8 x 32 "THE ST ANDREWS PLATINUM REEL".

This dance is missing in DanceData, though there is a recording of the same name. Minicrib has a crib, and says the deviser is L Derrick [DD has two devisers of the name, Luke Derrick and Lewis N. Derrick.]

Who can tell us where this dance was published, and which of the two Derricks devised it? Is it an RSCDS dance?

There is a description of the dance in the booklet of the »Platinum« CD, which was published by the St Andrews Branch to celebrate 70 years of SCD in St Andrews. According to that description, the dance was devised by Lewis N. Derrick.

The CD booklet contains descriptions of all the dances on the CD, plus one (»Charlie's Silver Jubilee«, which was also recorded by Gordon Shand). The first four dances are apparently new, not published elsewhere, and not in the database yet, while the remaining ten dances are from the branch's Golden Jubilee publication and do exist in the database. I'll see to fixing that ASAP.
